Migrant Family Literacy Project
The purpose of this project is to survey, develop activities, and provide professional development to the Kansas Migrant Family Literacy directors and their staff about the needs that they have in the areas of early childhood education, parenting, and parent-child together time. These activities would assist directors and the teachers, paraprofessionals and family liaisons with whom they work to help parents and children meet their educational goals and support parents in their role as their child’s first teacher. The materials would include but would not be limited to activities for:
· Literacy potential in the home environment
· Reading aloud
· Empowering parents as literary partners
· Creating a literacy rich home
· Supplement after-school tutoring for school-aged children
