Federal Home Visiting Data Collection and Reporting System-Nebraska
As a major requirement of the federal Affordable Care Act Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program, states must design and develop a data collection and reporting system to measure and report on benchmarks for 6 major outcomes. This requires a coordinated effort across selected home visiting models, agencies or organizations that provide those models, and existing state or local databases that are not currently linked across clients (e.g., state Depts. of Health, Education, Labor etc.). This also involves direct data collection with families by trained staff or assessors. To develop and maintain such a coordinated data collection and reporting system will require not only technical skills in database development and linking data across systems, but also the experience and expertise in working with administrative and data staff at all levels to negotiate and access agency data management systems.
