Children's Initiatives Fund

Kansas receives over $50 million in annual payments from the Master Settlement Agreement, which is then distributed to programs from the Children’s Initiatives Fund (CIF). Each year, the Kansas Children’s Cabinet makes recommendations to the Kansas Legislature regarding CIF funding distribution. Institute staff has developed an accountability framework for the 24 programs receiving these funds and conducts an evaluation of funded programs that includes surveys, face to face interviews, and a review of program materials. Staff prepares a Briefing Binder containing this information and presents it to the Kansas Children’s Cabinet.
