Migrant Family Literacy Seminar held in Dodge City
The Migrant Family Literacy project got underway last December when Francie Christopher, Assistant Director of the Institute for Educational Research and Public Service, Lonna Summers, Graduate Assistant and Stephanie Christenot, Program Assistant met with Migrant Coordinators from around the state. The meeting’s purpose was to hear what professional development needs these coordinators and their staffs have as they work with families to increase literacy in the home. The two-day workshop was held in Dodge City and twenty participants reviewed interactive literacy kits, how-to manuals, and family literacy night activities. A follow-up meeting will be held in the spring.
