EOP Trivia Contest

The 3rd Annual EOP Trivia Adventure Raises Over $16,000 in Scholarship Funds.

The Institute’s Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP) are celebrating after raising over $1,600 for the EOP Scholarship Fund through this year’s Trivia Adventure.  On a Sunday afternoon in February, twelve teams came together for some friendly trivia competition, delicious homemade goodies, and a silent auction.   Community members, KU students, faculty, and staff all had a great time while also raising scholarship money to help more first generation, low-income, and underrepresented students succeed at the University of Kansas.

About the EOP

Thousands of talented low-income and first-generation students in Kansas have college dreams. The Educational Opportunity Programs at KU provide the academic resources for their success.  Each year, the KU Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP) partners with more than 70 community agencies and schools to help nearly 4,000 students reach their college dreams. EOP serves students from middle school and high school, current KU students, non-traditional adult students and veterans.  Their programs provide a pipeline of support that ranges from middle school planning to graduate school admissions, with services such as tutoring, advising, financial aid and admissions assistance, campus visits, and research opportunities.

Making KU Possible for More 1st Generation and Low-Income Students

Many of EOP’s most promising students struggle to afford the rising costs of attending KU, so EOP staff has joined with KU Endowment to create a scholarship fund that will help more first-generation and low-income students. Once endowed, this scholarship fund will be a permanent way to help more EOP  students reach their potential.   At this time, an endowed scholarship fund can be established at the $30,000 level. EOP is well on the way to meeting this goal – with over $16,000 raised to date.
