EOP Staff Win!

The KU Department of Geography has hosted the Globe-O-Mania geography trivia contest since 2004. This year, on December 7th, they decided to open it up to the public, and three SOE staff members won the championship.  Ngondi Kamatuka (director, Educational Opportunity Programs), Robert Rodriguez (Associate director, McNair Scholars Program), Robert’s wife, Irina, Yoshinori Nakazawa (academic tutor, McNair Scholars Program), and KU doctoral student Ismael Hinojosa formed the top team in the competition. After three rounds of trivia questions, the team tied for the championship in the overall competition among approximately 25 teams, and then proceeded to defeat a team comprised of several KU academic deans for the final championship.  (courtesy of Inside Scoop 12-12-08)
