Council for Opportunity in Education 2012 Annual Conference
For the past year, Dr. Ngondi Kamatuka, Director of the University of Kansas Educational Opportunity Programs, has served as the Chairperson for the Board of Directors of the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE), the National TRIO Association. Dr. Kamatuka’s term as Board Chair concluded at the COE’s Annual Conference held September 5-7, 2012 in New York, NY. Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little was in attendance at the conference to serve on a panel entitled “Plenary Session: Insights from the Top”. Chancellor Gray-Little, along with three University Presidents, held an open conversation on the challenges they face in preserving focus on expanded opportunity and examining the broader universe of higher education policy and changes they see as necessary if higher education is to maintain a central role as an instrument of mobility in our society. Chancellor Gray-Little was joined on the panel by Jose Guadalupe Valtierra, Chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College Northwest; James R. Ramsey, President of University of Louisville, Louisville Kentucky; Wayne Andrews, President of Morehead State University, Morehead Kentucky.
