Richard Katz

EDUCAUSE Vice President Richard N. Katz is the founding director of ECAR. Katz has served EDUCAUSE (and its predecesors) since 1996, following a 14-year career at the University of California. He has been responsible for educational programs as well as member and corporate relations at EDUCAUSE. As executive director of business planning and practices at the University of California, he was responsible for design and implementation of many of the UC System's strategic management initiatives.


Toby Sitko

ECAR Research FellowToby Sitko most recently served as Director of Policy and Planning for Information Technology Services at New York University. In addition to guiding the evolution and implementation of IT policy, plans, and strategy at NYU, she was project leader for university-wide initiatives related to e-learning, regulatory policy, copyright, IT architecture, and global IT services. Prior to her role at NYU, she held appointments at other major universities, including Deputy Executive Director for Information Resources at the City University of New York Graduate Center, Director of Information Technology Customer Services at the University of Houston, and Assistant Director for User Support at Indiana University Bloomington. She has co-authored several publications, chaired the EDUCAUSE Publications Advisory Committee, and has served on the EDUCAUSE Leadership Institute faculty and the Current Issues Committee.


Joan Lippincott

Joan K. Lippincott is the Associate Executive Director of the Coalition for Networked Information (CNI), a joint project of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and EDUCAUSE. Joan previously held positions in the libraries of Cornell, Georgetown, George Washington University, and SUNY at Brockport as well as the Research and Policy Analysis Division of the American Council on Education and the National Center for Postsecondary Governance and Finance. She has written articles and made presentations on such topics as networked information, collaboration among professional groups, collaborative facilities, assessment, and teaching and learning in the networked environment. She is on the board of the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD), secretary/treasurer of the National Initiative for a Networked Cultural Heritage and a member of the editorial board of C&RL News. Joan received her Ph.D. in higher education policy, planning, and administration from the University of Maryland, her M.L.S. from SUNY Geneseo, and an A.B. from Vassar College.

Karen Williams

Karen Williams is the Undergraduate Services Teams Leader at the University of Arizona Library where she has worked since 1983. Recent positions at the UA include Digital Library Initiatives Team Leader, Acting Special Collections Team Leader, and Acting Team Leader for Library and Information Systems. She served as Chair of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), Instruction Section from 1999-2001, and is a member of the faculty for the ACRL Institute for Information Literacy Immersion Program. She is a founding member of the University of Arizona Learning Technology Partnership, a campus collaboration that fosters the meaningful integration of new learning technologies and information literacy into the curriculum.

Karen is a member of the Management Team for the university's Integrated Learning Center (ILC), a facility designed to provide undergraduates with a rich, high tech learning environment that integrates learning support resources and services with physical spaces designed to support learning. Five campus units jointly manage the ILC. The Library's Undergraduate Services Team manages the Information Commons, which belongs to both the Library and the ILC.

Andy Garrison

Andy has extensive formal training in acting, voice and movement. He holds a B.A. in Theatre from Baker University, and an M.F.A. in Acting and Directing from the nationally recognized Professional Actor Training Program at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Andy is an experienced professional and has appeared on many area stages including the Missouri Repertory Theatre, The New Theatre, and The American Heartland Theatre. His acting work has also been seen on national television in films with Richard Thomas, Cheryl Ladd and Keith Carradine. He has directed award-winning productions both at the university level and in community theatre. His collaborative style and dedication to ensemble have earned him a reputation as an "actor's director".

Andy is a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). He owns the Actors Training Studio (ats) in Kansas City where he offers actors several unique and practical options for study.
