These are the days KU classes are not in session. Separate applications for enrollment are required for each optional care period. Families who need care apply and pay for these days.

Optional care periods, days preceding holidays, and the two fall break days have shortened hours. The work schedule for our full time staff members is eight hours a day. Many KU students are employed to assist our lead and assistant teachers in the classrooms during early morning and late afternoon times and at rest time. When KU is not in session, these aides are usually unavailable so shorter hours are necessary.
