What is DCCCA?

Location: Lawrence Public Library, 7th and Vermont
It's a major non-governmental social services provider with headquarters in Lawrence. DCCCA started in Lawrence in 1974 as the Douglas County Citizens Committee on Alcoholism with two staff members, and has grown to about 500 employees throughout Kansas, providing a multitude of services directed from the Lawrence headquarters. It has developed innovative programs for alcohol and drug abuse treatment and education. In addition it has focused on women and dependent children and has made efforts to strengthen families and provide positive foster care services. Bruce Beale, executive director of DCCCA, will review the history and objectives of this unique Lawrence organization.

Where: Lawrence Public Library, 7th and Vermont. Parking - metered - on the street or in city lot adjacent to the Library.

Time: 10:00 11:00 am

Cost: $5.00

Note: Mostly sitting, walking only to the meeting room.
