Chancellor?s Lecturer Takao Shibata served as a Japanese diplomat in Sweden, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and as Consul General of Japan in Kansas City. He was Counselor of the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations and Assistant President of the U.N.?s International Fund for Agricultural Development based in Rome. An economist by training, as Deputy Director in the Economic Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, he organized many policy dialogue missions to key countries in Asia and Africa.
