New Developments at the Watkins Museum

Steve Nowak, Executive Director of the Douglas County Historical Society, will talk about new programs, exhibitions, and long term plans for the Watkins Community Museum of History. After describing upcoming programs and partnerships and providing information on current exhibitions, he will explore the planning process and emerging ideas for the Museum's permanent collection exhibit.
Steve Nowak, Executive Director of the Douglas County Historical Society began work at the Watkins Museum in March 2011. Prior to this he worked at the Toledo Museum of Art for 22 years, serving in a variety of roles, most recently as director of education and community outreach and a curatorial consultant in decorative arts. In that role, he managed the museum's educational and community outreach branch and was responsible for the development of public programs, school tours, classes, educator resources, and outreach efforts. He has experience developing exhibitions, both at Toledo and as an independent consultant. A native of St. Louis, he graduated from Washington University with a degree in art history and studied American studies and material culture at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
