Michael W. Traugott is Senior Research Scientist at the University of Michigan?s Center for Political Studies. He is also Professor in UM?s Department of Communication Studies, a faculty member at the Institute for Social Research and an adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science. Professor Traugott directs the How Americans Respond Survey, a national, multi-wave panel study of public attitudes and behavior in the wake of September 11. He is the author of nine books, including, with Paul J. Lavrakas, Election Polls, The News Media & Democracy (CQ Press 2000). In addition to his research on the mass media and their impact on U.S. politics and voter behavior, he has served as an election commentator for ABC News, CBS News and other news media.
