Jeane Kirkpatrick is one of America's experts on world politics and international affairs. She has had a remarkable impact in the United States and in the world body serving as United States Representative to the United Nations (1981-1985), member of the Defense Policy Review Board (1985-1993), member of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board (1985-1990), and White House cabinet member under Ronald Reagan (1981-1985).

Today she is the Leavey Professor of Government at Georgetown University; Senior Fellow and Director of Foreign and Defense Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research; and a syndicated columnist for the Los Angeles Times. Her books include The Withering Away of the Totalitarian State...and Other Suprises (1990), Legitimacy and Force: National and International Dimensions (1987), and The Reagan Phenomenon (1983).
