Kathleen Sebelius, the 44th Governor of Kansas, will present "The Leader As A Person" in the Emily Taylor and Marilyn Stokstad Women's Leadership Lecture.
Named for two of the women who helped establish the lecture fund at the Kansas University Endowment Association, the Women's Leadership Lecture will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2003 in the Ballroom of the Kansas Union. The lecture is free and open to the public. Tickets are not needed.
Sebelius has a political science degree from Trinity College and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Kansas. Sebelius served in the Kansas House of Representatives from 1987 through 1994 and was elected Insurance Commissioner in 1994. Governing Magazine recognized her innovative leadership and named her one of America's Top Ten Public Officials in 2001.
The Emily Taylor and Marilyn Stokstad Women's Leadership Lecture Fund supports lectures by prominent women on contemporary women's leadership issues. Contributions to the lecture fund can be made through the University of Kansas Endowment Association. The Hall Center for the Humanities administers the lecture.
