"It's Our War Too:  American Children on the Home Front during WWll": A Conversation with Bill Tuttle
New Generation Society of Lawrence (NGSL members only)

Wed., Nov. 6, 2013, 9:30am - 10:30am
Location: KU Continuing Education Building, 1515 Saint Andrews Drive

Bill Tuttle, Professor Emeritus of American Studies, received a Research Fellowship from the Hall Center for the Humanities to study the impact of the Second World War on children and published the research in a book which was named a notable book  by the New York Times and nominated for a Pulitzer.  His talk will be on the insights he received from about 2,500 letters written to him by the home front children in addition to his research in libraries and archives.  He was recently asked to give a talk to the convention of children of WWII in Indianapolis on his research and visited with more children of that era. He said he defined home front children as being born between 1933 and 1945 – a span that would include many of us in New Generation.
