Some populations targeted in research can be hard to reach, especially closed vulnerable populations. This session will provide students with a toolkit to successfully complete research with hidden or hard to reach populations. Using examples from a study of sexually trafficked and prostituted persons in Kansas City, topics will include:  human subjects approval, engaging community-based agencies in the research process, identifying and recruiting hard to reach populations, developing trust with research participants, and the benefits and challenges in conducting research with hidden populations.
