THE ENGEL LIBRARY
The Engel German
Library was established in 1975 by the Engel family, friends,
and former students of Professor Elmer F. Engel (1866-1959).
Collection
- Core approximately
5,000 bound volumes, mostly in German, with subject emphasis
in German history, language and literature.
- Significant reference
collection pertaining to German language and literature, as well as
dissertations, plus some works in Dutch and Norwegian.
- Author-title-subject
card catalog.
Periodicals: Language, literature, current events, science,
pedagogy.
- Includes Euphorion, Monatshefte, Die Zeit (newspaper), Der Spiegel, Stern,
P.M., Merian, and many other periodical publications.
- Large record collection:
Symphonic, vocal, dramatic works, poetry, and more.
- Two computers
with access to Watson Library online catalog and internet
topics.
