For
over thirty-five years students have studied German language,
literature, and culture at the Summer Language Institute (SLI)
in Eutin while living with German families. Situated midway
between Kiel and Lübeck in the northern state of Schleswig-Holstein,
Eutin (pop. 17,000), Lawrence's sister city, welcomes students
as guests and offers numerous cultural and recreational opportunities
from opera festivals to water sports.
