Undergraduate Program in Geography & Atmospheric Science
 The Department of Geography offers four undergraduate degrees: the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Geography, the Bachelor of General Studies (B.G.S.) in Geography, the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Geography, and the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Atmospheric Science. Since each degree offers a different educational experience, students should carefully consider which degree is most appropriate to meet their educational goals. In all of the degrees, students have to meet two general sets of requirements: the general education requirements set by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the specific requirements for the majors set by the Geography Department.
Geography integrates information from a variety of sources to study the nature of culture areas, the emergence of physical and human landscapes, and problems of interaction between people and the environment. Mapping and other techniques for gathering and displaying spatial information are integral parts of the field. The B.A., B.G.S., and B.S. in geography provide general liberal arts enrichment, preparation for graduate work, and training for careers in geography and related fields. Geography may be combined with another program as a double major, or courses in another area may simply be added to those in geography.
The atmospheric science program in the Department of Geography offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in atmospheric science. This degree offers four options that include a general atmospheric science degree option, an air pollution meteorology option, a hydrometeorology option (a branch of meteorology especially concerned with precipitation), and a news media forecasting option.
