Instructional Computer Labs
Lindley 210: Geography Department Conference Room

The primary computing function of this facility is to support advanced geography seminars. This room has a small form factor Pentium 4 Windows system with DVD/RW, multi-function memory stick reader and BlueTooth (wireless) media center keyboard and mouse. The display is a pivoting 50 inch plasma monitor with multiple video inputs from the computer and visiting notebooks via a 25 foot VGA cable. Audio from either the desktop or visiting notebook is enhanced by a Bose Companion 3 Multimedia sound system. Software available within this room supports geographic information science, remote sensing, cartography, data visualization, programming, spatial analysis, statistics and data sharing access via AFS. |
Lindley 214A1: Advanced Research Computer Lab
| Provides "real world" tools needed for graduate students or advanced undergraduates to perform directed research and application of geographic information science, remote sensing, geostatistics, cartography, visualization and physical science. Topics of research range from mapping of land mines to development of new physical geography laboratory manuals to animation of geographic information for dynamic analysis and presentation of timelines and data. This lab is also used for "hands on" seminars of various geographic information science topics. |
Lindley 214B: Research Computer Lab
| Provides the tools needed for graduate students to perform individual or directed research in geographic information science, remote sensing, geostatistics, cartography, visualization and physical science. Peer review of research is encouraged. |
Lindley 226 and Lindley 310: Instructional Labs
| Provides basic and advanced instruction in geographic information science, remote sensing, cartography, visualization and physical science. |
Lindley 405: Atmospheric Science Weather Lab and KU Weather Service
| Provides atmospheric science students with the instructional tools needed to develop "hands on" weather analysis skills using nationally available weather programs and data. Local weather data are collected as part of an ongoing cooperative database of weather phenomena. This lab is also used for seminars and other weather related lectures. |
