B.A. Geography, 1986
Please feel free to contact me for career insights.
I graduated in 1986 from KU with a B.A degree in Geography, emphasis in
Cultural Geography. I feel my KU education prepared me very well for a career.
I started part time in Hoxie with NRCS (SCS then) working on the 1986 Farm
Program with Highly Erodable Land Determinations for Sheridan County, Kansas,
and working with the Technician in the field. I worked a lot with maps and
my experience at KU really helped in the early part of this job.
In 1991 I was offered the Soil Conservation Technician job. I applied and
was hired. My first official job was working on the Natural Resources Inventory
for five counties in Northwest Kansas. Since then I have worked mainly in
Sheridan County, but have been detailed to Thomas County, and Gove County.
Although my current position does not have a major focus in Geography,
there is no doubt that I benefited throughout my career from the strong
KU foundation.
