KU: Department of Geography

Having focused mainly on GIS and remote sensing curriculum, my first job out of college was with a digital mapping/GIS firm, MSE/ASI, whose main clients were utility companies. Our job was to convert their data to a GIS system (namely SmallWorld).

My next job was with Utilicorp (one of the clients I worked for previously), maintaining and utilizing their SmallWorld data. From there, I transferred to Utilicorp's energy marketing division, Aquila, where I became a natural gas scheduler (move gas along pipelines based on trades exectued on said pipelines). Thanks to Enron and overly-zealous moves by some of Aquila's own, we all lost our jobs.

I am currently in Denver working in natural gas marketing for Devlar Energy Marketing. Poor job security, but great pay.
