George is a 1974 graduate of KU, where he received an MA in Geography with a focus on political geography. He has a BA in Geography and an MS in Energy Resources from the University of Pittsburgh and undertook graduate studies in Public Administration at the University of Colorado. George retired in 2009 from the US NRC as a Senior Executive after 29 years of Federal service. His responsibilities included management of regulatory programs for use of nuclear materials, uranium recovery, nuclear fuel fabrication and radioactive waste managment. Prior to joining the NRC, George performed enviromental and socioeconomic impact analyses of fossil fuel and nuclear energy facilities for Westinghouse. He is currently serving in a part-time capacity advising the NRC on a variety of special projects.

He and his wife Pam live in the Richmond, VA area.
