    B.S., Atmospheric Science, 1991

Matt graduated from KU with a B.S. in Atmospheric Science in 1991. After graduating, he worked for a short stint at a private forecasting firm in Kansas City, before joining the National Weather Service in 1992. Matt became a forecaster at the Weather Forecast Office (WFO) in Shreveport, LA in 1994 and was promoted to Lead Forecaster there in 1998. He became the Information Technology Officer in 2001, also at Shreveport. In 2004, Matt transferred to the WFO in Norman, OK, and gained significant experience in mesoscale analysis and modeling. He now resides in the Kansas City area with his wife, Jenny, and two daughters, Claire and Carly. Matt is also an amateur radio operator.
