| The 2007 Math and Science Center
Summer Program concluded recently with a Banquet and trip to
World's of Fun in Kansas City. The six week program
offered classes, field trips, and activities for 30 Kansas high
school students from Douglas, Shawnee, and Wyandotte counties.
The classes this summer were Algebra, Chemistry/Physics,
English, German, and Introduction to Leadership. Students
also participated in a career shadow day during which they
shadowed a professional in an occupational field of interest.
The students lived in McCollum Hall on the KU campus.
Other activities included campus visits, swimming, ice skating,
dances, community service, and a performance at Starlight
Theatre.
Overall, it was a successful summer and we are confident that
the students who participated are more prepared for successful
high school and college outcomes. Pictures of the
Summer Program are available here.
