Enabling Language Keyboards in Macintosh OS X

The instructions below guide you through the necessary steps to enable foreign language keyboards in Macintosh OS 10.2. The procedure is almost identical in OS 10.1, but fewer languages are supported.


Open System Preferences by clicking on its icon in the Dock or by selecting it from the Apple menu. Apple Menu

Select "International" from the System Preferences options. International

Input Menu Click on "Input Menu" at the top of the window. Click on the checkboxes next to the languages you would like to use. Note: OS 10.2 offers support for more languages than OS 10.1.

Click on "Options" and make sure "Font and keyboard synchronization" is enabled. Font and Keyboard Synchronization

Keyboard Menu To switch back and forth between languages, select the language you would like to use from the Keyboard menu. The Keyboard menu is located at the top of the screen, in the menu bar. It will display the flag representing the language you are currently using.
