EGARC Equipment

Laptop
Laptops / Netbooks

EGARC has two Windows-based laptop computers and one netbook available for instructor checkout. All come equipped with the Microsoft Office 2010 suite (including PowerPoint) and are configured to take advantage of the campus wireless network.

Media Cart
Multimedia Carts

EGARC has one mobile cart equipped with a laptop and an LCD projector. The cart, which is only available for use in Wescoe, is perfect for presentations and showing DVDs in classrooms without media equipment.

TV Cart
TV / VCR/DVD Cart

EGARC has a TV cart with a multistandard VCR and DVD player intended for use in the few non-mediated classrooms on fourth floor Wescoe. Due to the difficulty of navigating it through crowded hallways, this cart will be checked out only when no other option exists.

Voice Recorder
Digital Voice Recorders

EGARC has digital voice recorders that are perfect for recording oral tests in language classes or for conducting interviews at remote locations. Recordings are saved on the device as .mp3 files and can be transferred to a computer using its built-in USB connection.

MiniDV Camcorder
Digital Cameras

To facilitate the use of multimedia materials, EGARC provides a digital camera and four digital camcorders for checkout. Instructors are invited to edit video and digital images in our faculty work area, where we have workstations with all of the needed software.

Visual Presenter
Mobile Visual Presenter

EGARC has a digital visual presenter, which can be used in the multimedia rooms in Wescoe or in combination with our multimedia carts described above, to show overhead transparencies, three-dimensional objects, and images and text from books and slides.

Boombox
Audio Cassette/CD Players

The Center has a limited number of portable cassette and CD players available on a first-come, first-served basis. With special permission, these players may be checked out for extended periods.

Powerpoint Clicker
PowerPoint Presenters

Designed specifically for PowerPoint presentations, these presenters allow you to control any computer from up to 25 feet away, freeing you up to stand anywhere you wish in the classroom when making a presentation.

Polycom
Video Conferencing Equipment

Our IP videoconferencing unit can be used anywhere on campus for long-distance collaboration with faculty and/or students at other universities. The unit requires an ethernet connction and must be used in conjunction with a TV or an LCD projector.

Mac Dongles
Computer and A/V Adapters

EGARC maintains a variety of adapters and cables for checkout, including audio splitters, dongles to connect Mac laptops to LCD projectors on campus, and miniAV to RCA cables to connect your videocamera or iPod to a television.

Reel to Reel
Legacy A/V Equipment

In order to ensure access to older materials, EGARC has audio equipment to play reel-to-reel, LP records, cassettes, minicassettes, and digital audio tape formats, as well as video equipment to play VHS and U-matic formats.

Zip and Floppy Drives
Other Legacy Equipment

In addition to legacy audio/video equipment, EGARC can provide access to a typewriter, a pedal-operated cassette tape transcription machine, floppy drives, Zip drives, and a variety of other equipment.
