Botany Summer Scholarships

EEB graduate students are invited to submit to the department written requests for funds to assist with the costs of attending a professional meeting. The typical award will not exceed $300. For more information contact Dorothy Johanning (2041 Haworth; 864-5889; jdorothy@ku.edu).

 

 

EEB graduate students with a research focus in entomology are eligible to apply for summer scholarship funds available through the department's entomology endowment. Recipients must enroll for the summer term. For more information contact David Alexander (5020 Haworth; 864-3370; dalexandr@ku.edu).

 

 

EEB graduate student with a research focus in botany are eligible to apply for summer scholarship funds available through the department's botany endowment. Recipients must enroll for the summer term. For more information contact Christopher Haufler (7008 Haworth; 864-3255; vulgare@ku.edu).

 

 

University Awards & Scholarships

Madison and Lila Self Graduate Fellowship

New and first year domestic doctoral students may be eligible for KU's Self Graduate Fellowship. This is a four-year award consisting of an annual $29,000 stipend plus tuition and fee sponsorship. Self Fellows also participate in a professional development program. Students are nominated by the department's graduate committees.

Graduate Scholarly Presentation Travel Fund

KU graduate students who will attend a professional meeting to present a paper are eligible to apply for a $400 travel award available through the Office of Research and Graduate Studies. Students are eligible to receive the award once during their tenure at KU.

Doctoral Student Research Fund

KU doctoral students who need financial assistance to carry out research that advance progress toward the degree may apply for the Doctoral Student Research Fund. Priority is given to requests to do on-site research at unique facilities. Other research expenses will be considered, including those for the purchase of supplies and equipment or those to pay research participants or publication fees. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
