Applied English Center courses provide English language instruction to non-native speakers of English. All international students whose native language is not English,
including foreign students and residents or citizens of the United
States, are required by the Faculty Senate Rules and
Regulations to
enroll in the English language courses, if any, specified for them by
the AEC before enrolling in any academic work.
Admission to KU
does not constitute a waiver of the English
proficiency
requirement from the Applied English Center.
Courses labeled ESLP
are available for credit toward an undergraduate
degree. To receive a grade of Credit, students must receive a grade of
A, B, or C in the course. Transcripts show No Credit for ESLP courses in
which students receive a grade of D or F.
A maximum of 9 hours of
credit may count toward undergraduate degrees in the College of Liberal
Arts and Sciences; the School of Architecture, Design and Planning; and
the School of Business.
