A gender analysis of the organization of health care in the United States, using sociohistorical and sociological perspectives. Considers the health status and health care problems of women in relation to cultural aspects of medicine and health care; the roles of both informal and professional health care providers; the political economy of health care systems; and the relationship between gender and the state.
