Ed.D. with a Major in Curriculum and Instruction

The Doctor of Education with a major in curriculum and instruction is offered for students who plan to pursue employment at the college level or assume major leadership positions in schools.

Areas of emphasis for advanced degrees in curriculum and instruction may include

  • Foreign language education,
  • Language arts education,
  • Mathematics education,
  • Science education,
  • Social studies education,
  • Literacy education,
  • Teaching English as a second language,
  • Curriculum studies,
  • Gifted and talented education, and
  • Economics education.

Doctoral candidates should develop a program plan at the first enrollment or promptly thereafter. A copy of this program should be filed with the Graduate Division of the School of Education. Basic and applied research skills, including statistics, research design, and related requirements appropriate to the degree, are required for the Ed.D. Specific descriptions of research options may be obtained from the department.
