D.E. Degree Requirements

Requirements for the Doctor of Engineering degree with a major in civil engineering are in accordance with the requirements of Graduate Studies and the School of Engineering. A Plan of Study must be approved by the student’s major professor, examining committee, and departmental graduate studies committee.

Before being admitted to the comprehensive examination, the aspirant must satisfy the department’s research skills, residency, and responsible scholarship requirements. This includes a Responsible Scholarship Training Seminar conducted each fall and the completion of one skill appropriate to the student’s research area, acquired by completion of one or more courses identified as research skills courses on the student’s approved Plan of Study, or by other means approved by the student’s committee and department graduate adviser.

All graduate students must have an approved Plan of Study on file by the beginning of their second semester of study.
