M.C.E. Degree Requirements

The Master of Civil Engineering degree requires 34 semester hours of graduate courses, of which a minimum of 7 hours must be in engineering management core courses. The core courses are EMGT 806, EMGT 809, EMGT 810, EMGT 811, EMGT 813, EMGT 821, EMGT 823, and EMGT 830. EMGT 809 is required, and only one of either EMGT 813 or EMGT 823 is accepted. The remaining 27 hours of courses are subject to the same criteria requirements as the Master of Science degree in civil engineering, except that the limit on courses from other departments (including EMGT courses) is 10 hours rather than 9 hours. A final examination is required in the student’s concentration. Students may also take the Professional Engineer examination to meet their final examination requirements.

Courses to be applied toward the M.C.E. degree must be listed on a Plan of Study form approved by the student's major professor, examining committee, and department graduate adviser. All graduate students must have an approved Plan of Study on file by the beginning of their second semester of study.
