Center for Global and International Studies

The Center for Global and International Studies supports and promotes global and international studies at KU. In collaboration with International Programs and the area centers, CGIS works to provide a single point of contact for faculty with international expertise to help facilitate interdisciplinary research and teaching opportunities. Building on longstanding institutional strength in international studies, the center focuses on topics and themes of transnational scope and on world areas of economic and strategic importance not covered by the existing area studies centers. CGIS contributes to the preparation of students for careers in an increasingly interconnected world by housing undergraduate and graduate degrees in global and international studies, and by supporting the introduction of new course offerings and study abroad opportunities. In addition, the center offers outreach activities to K-12 teachers, businesses, and governmental agencies across the region and serves as a resource for the local and international community.
