Undergraduate Advising

Music students are advised by music faculty members from their major area of study as well as from the School of Music Student Services office. Students in Music Education and Music Therapy are each assigned a specific faculty adviser.

Each entering first-year student is encouraged to attend KU’s summer New Student Orientation. At the summer orientation program, students are advised on course selection for the fall semester and given the opportunity to enroll.

Each semester before enrollment, students see their advisers to plan schedules and discuss academic and career interests. Students are encouraged to call on their advisers any time during the school year if they wish to change their schedules or discuss other matters. Consultation with an adviser is recommended before making schedule changes.

Music students should direct questions to the School of Music Office of Student Services.

Graduate Advising
