First- and Second-Year Preparation

Students considering a theatre major should enroll in THR 106 Acting I and THR 101 Theatre Practicum I and complete all 100- and 200-level courses in the first 2 years of study. It is imperative that theatre students sign up for practicum credit early in their careers at KU.

Admission to the Major

Admission Requirements

Required courses:

Minimum Admission Grade-Point Average: Satisfied by a minimum GPA of 2.5 in required admission courses designated above. University Course Repeat Policy will apply. Grades in other theatre courses that count toward the major will not be considered for admission to the major.

Students should apply to the major during the semester in which major admission criteria will be completed, normally no later than 60 hours, or for transfer students, during the initial term at KU.
