Doctor of Musical Arts

The degree of Doctor of Musical Arts is intended as a recognition of high professional attainment. Since only exceptionally well-qualified candidates are admitted to the program, doctoral studies are devoted primarily to developing professional qualifications for teaching at the college level. The degree of Doctor of Musical Arts is offered in

  • Church music (organ or choral conducting emphasis),
  • Composition,
  • Conducting (band, choral, or orchestral), and
  • Areas of performance.
