Admission
- Application fee payable to the University of Kansas:
–Domestic: paper or online $55
–International: paper or online $65 - 1 official copy of transcripts from each post-secondary university attended
- Undergraduate and graduate grade-point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- 3 letters of reference
- Résumé or curriculum vitae and repertoire list (not required for Music Education and Music Therapy)
- International students: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic format scores
- Successful audition
- Graduate Record Examination scores required for M.M.E. in Music Education and Music Therapy, Ph.D. in Music Education and Music Therapy, Music Theory, Musicology

The School of Music
The School of Music ranks among the finest in America, offering comprehensive programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. The school nurtures and advances the art of music through creation, performance, scholarly inquiry, entrepreneurship, and enhancement of the artistic skills and experiences of the university and regional cultural communities.
The Master of Music program ranks 12th among public institutions offering graduate degrees in the most recent survey by U.S. News & World Report, the only national ranking of music programs. A distinguished faculty with more than 60 members offers opportunity to study with professionals in all major areas.
The school is a major contributor to the arts community through student, faculty, and professional performances in Swarthout Recital Hall, Bales Organ Recital Hall, the Robert Baustian Theatre, and the Lied Center of Kansas.
The university
