NAME:
The name of this association is the Central Slavic Conference
(CSC). The conference includes the states of Missouri, Kansas, Colorado,
Nebraska, Iowa, and Oklahoma. It supersedes the Bi-State (Kansas-Missouri)
Slavic Conference, which was founded in 1962.
PURPOSE:
The association's purpose is to advance the study of the cultures
and affairs of the peoples of Eastern Europe and Eurasia.
The CSC holds an Annual Convention at which members and guests discuss the culture and affairs of the peoples in the countries of Eastern Europe and Eurasia. At the Annual Convention, the President and Executive Board convene a General Meeting of Members at which all formal business is transacted.
MEMBERSHIP:
A "member" of the CSC is any person who attends and registers at an Annual Convention.
DUES:
The Conference has no membership dues. Its revenues come from contributions from
institutions that host the Annual Convention and from registration fees at the Annual
Convention.
OFFICERS:
The CSC hs the following officers: the President, Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer,
Representative to the AAASS Council of Regional Affiliates, Archivist, and Member of
the Executive Board.
The President.
The President must have a formal affiliation with the institution that is hosting the
Annual Convention during the academic year of that person's presidency. The first
President of the Central Slavic Conference will be the President of the Bi-State
Slavic Conference. Subsequently, the sitting Vice-President will accede to the office of
President when the President's term has ended.
The term of the President is the period from the end of one Annual Convention to the end of the following Annual Convention.
The duties of the President are:
The Vice-President.
A new Vice-President is elected each year by the General Meeting of Members. The
Vice-President has a formal affiliation with the institution that will host the
Annual Convention two years hence. The term of the Vice-President is from the date
of election at the Annual Convention to the end of the following Annual Convention,
at which time the Vice-President accedes to the office of President.
The duties of the Vice-President are:
The Secretary-Treasurer.
The Secretary-Treasurer is appointed by the President and is usually from the same, or
neighboring, institution with which the President has a formal affiliation. The term of the
Secretary-Treasurer is the same as the term of the President.
The duties of the Secretary-Treasurer are:
Representative to the AAASS Council of Regional Affiliates.
The Representative is elected by the General Meeting of Members. The term of office is three (3)
years; the Representative may serve more than one term.
Duties of the Representative are:
The Archivist.
The Archivist is elected by the General Meeting of the Members and serves at the discretion
of that group.
The duties of the Archivist are:
The Executive Board.
The Executive Board is comprised of the following individuals: the sitting President,
Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Archivist; and all past Presidents who are still
residing in the geographic area of the CSC.
