Continuous Enrollment


Master of Arts
All Masters students who have completed the necessary course work for their degrees must be continuously enrolled until all requirements for the degree are completed. This requirement pertains primarily to thesis-option Master's students who have finished the course work and are working on their thesis. If all other course work is completed, students must be enrolled in two hours of Master's thesis hours per semester. Summer enrollment is not required.

Doctor of Philosophy
After passing the Ph.D. comprehensive examination, the candidate must be continuously enrolled until he/she receives his/her Ph.D. and must present a minimum of fifteen (15) post comprehensive hours of which at least 12 hours must be in Course 999 - Doctoral Dissertation. Further enrollment regulations are as follows: until the candidate has accumulated 18 hours of dissertation credit through enrollments concurrent with or following the time he/she passed the comprehensive examination he/she must enroll for a minimum of six (6) hours per semester (three hours for the summer session). After 18 hours of dissertation credit has been accumulated, he/she must enroll for a minimum of two (2) hours of dissertation credit per semester (summer session included), including the semester in which the dissertation defense occurs. In all cases enrollment should reflect the demands made upon faculty time and University facilities. Post comprehensive enrollment may be accomplished my mail. Requests for mail enrollments should be made to the Director of Graduate Study.
