Dr. Bruss's research and teaching interests include rhetorical history, speechwriting, and rhetorical education. She is particularly interested in exploring classical rhetorical concepts and their relevance for contemporary practice and pedagogy. Dr. Bruss received the 2005 Dissertation Award from the American Society for the History of Rhetoric for her research on style and character in contemporary speechwriting. Her work has appeared in the Journal of College Student Development and Advances in the History of Rhetoric. Dr. Bruss is the department's Basic Course Director.
