Dr. Friedman's main interests involve interpersonal, instructional, and organizational communication, as well as qualitative research methods. Currently, he is studying processes involved in relational communication, narratives, and leadership. He coordinates KU's interdisciplinary Leadership Minor and directs the COMS Department's internship and honors programs. He is a former chair of the Instructional Division of the International Communication Association, recently received the Del Shankel Teaching Excellence Award, and was chosen the Students in Communication Studies Outstanding Professor.
