Dr. Linkugel's research and teaching interests are in the analysis of historical addresses. His research focuses on apologic rhetoric and the rhetoric of women's rights. He is a former president of the Central States Communication Association and was honored by the National Communication Association for outstanding service to the profession with the Kibler Award. Dr. Linkugel was honored in 1999 by the Kansas Communication Association for his contributions to the field. In Spring of 2000 he was awarded the first annual College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Career Achievement Teaching Award.
