Dr. Asuncion-Lande's teaching interests include intercultural communication, organizational communication, and linguistics. Current research interests include the management of cross-cultural conflict. She was a Fulbright scholar to Singapore in 1995 and is past division chairperson of the intercultural communication divisions of both the International Communication Association and the National Communication Association. She is currently President of the Pacific Asian Communication Association (2001-2003). In 1999 she received the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society Award for Excellence in International Education, and in 2001, a citation from the Rochester Intercultural Conferences (1995-2006) as "A lifelong pioneer in intercultural and international communication ethics." In 2001, she was inducted into the University of Kansas Women's Hall of Fame. Dr. Asuncion-Lande currently serves as editor of Human Communication: Journal of the Pacific Asian Communication Association. She is a member of the Editorial Board, Howard Journal of Communication and World Communication: Journal of World Communication Association.
