The Department of Theatre and Film has set aside the dates
of October 20 through November 14 for advising students interested
in majoring in Theatre and Film. The Department
requires that students majoring in Theatre and Film meet with a departmental
advisor each semester.
Freshmen and sophomores who are just entering the major or are undeclared
but interested in Theatre and Film are strongly recommended to attend
a group advising session being offered by Heidi Hulse, the Department Academic
Advisor. Contact Heidi (hhulse@ku.edu), Karla Conrad (kmconrad@ku.edu), or Kimbo
Jackson (kimboj@ku.edu) to make an appointment to attend a session. They are
scheduled as follows:
Students who have declared and are established in a Department of Theatre and Film major must make an advising appointment with a Department faculty advisor. Make your appointment early for the best selection of times! Please bring your ARTS form to your advising appointment. Please check your ARTS form to make sure it shows your correct major.
Please note that all holds must be cleared before you will be able to enroll. Check your Enroll and Pay account for a listing of holds.
THEATRE MAJORS: Sign-up for faculty appointments using the
schedule posted on your faculty advisor’s door. These schedules will be
posted by 8:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6. If you do not have an advisor,
contact the Department Office (356 Murphy Hall, 864-3511) for a list of advisors.
Murphy Hall is located at 1530 Naismith Drive (15th & Naismith).
Theatre Program waiting lists for all CLOSED Theatre classes are maintained in the Department Office, 356 Murphy Hall. Students who sign up on the waiting list must attend the first meeting of the class to find out if they can be admitted.
FILM MAJORS: Schedule a faculty advising appointment in
the book at the Film reception desk (Room 204 Oldfather Studios) or email kimboj@ku.edu
beginning Monday, October 6. There will be a notebook on the counter for
enrollment advising appointments in which you may schedule an appointment with
an advisor. Oldfather Studios is located at 1621 W. 9th Street (9th and Avalon).
Film Program waiting lists:
Film Studies classes (non-production-related): Waiting lists for some CLOSED Film courses are available at the reception desk at Oldfather Studios. Students who sign up on the waiting list must attend the first meeting of the class to find out if they can be admitted.Film Production classes have limited space, and each requires special permission to enroll. You will need to schedule an appointment with EACH instructor from whom you wish to take a Film production course in order to receive a special permission code. No waiting lists are kept for these courses. Film production classes fill up quickly, so you are strongly encouraged to make an advising appointment as early as possible!
THEATRE AND FILM MAJORS (combined degree): You may choose to
be advised by either a Theatre or a Film advisor. Follow the instructions above
for "THEATRE MAJORS" or "FILM MAJORS" accordingly.
