Probation Contract

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences requires students on probation to fill out a contract every semester until returning to good academic standing.  The purpose of the contract is to help students understand the College’s Academic Standing Policy and its consequences for their academic careers.  Some students will be required to meet with an advisor before an enrollment hold can be lifted.  Failure to sign a probation contract does not change the requirements of the Academic Standing Policy.

The specific requirements of the probation contract for individual students will be sent through the Kyou Portal.  Here, students will be able to view their message from the College in the Academic Notice message center.

Since probation contracts will no longer sent via post, students will need to do one of the following to get a probation contract:

1)  Come to 109 Strong Hall with a picture ID and request that a contract be printed off.

2)  Make an appointment with the designated advisor and fill out the contract during the advising appointment.  (This option may require a full hour with an advisor.)

3)  Request the contract by fax. (This option applies only to students who do not need to meet with an advisor. Students who are required to meet with an advisor must choose option one or two.)  A request for a fax must include 1) a typed statement of request, 2) a copy of the student’s campus id or driver’s license, 3) the student’s KU id number, 4) the signature of student, and 5) the return fax number.  The fax number is (785) 864-5806.

To either prevent or remove a probation hold, a completed contract will need to be submitted to 109 Strong Hall.  Students will be able to drop or withdraw from classes if a probation hold is in place, but they will not be able to add or enroll in classes.
