(Change to individual course or courses)

On line submission is required for all Curricular Change requests. Department representative should submit requests via the following link:

CURRICULAR CHANGE PROPOSALS – WHAT SHOULD THE COMMITTEE LOOK FOR?

Does the course description seem to fit the title and the number assigned to the course?
(CUSA reviews courses numbered below 700)

Does the course seem appropriate to be taught by the department or program that is proposing it, or might it need to be cross-listed with another department or taught by some other academic division of the University?

Is the course description clear and concise?

If there is a prerequisite, is it clear and does it seem appropriate for the course description? If there is not a prerequisite, should there be?

Does the course duplicate another course that already exists?

Is the department or program also requesting principal or non-western culture course status? If so, does the description seem appropriate for this request, and has the request form been submitted?

The liaison has already checked for technical details in most cases, such as making sure that all necessary signatures are obtained, course numbers are available, etc. The subcommittee’s role is to make a judgment on the appropriateness of the proposals as a part of the CLA&S curriculum.
