My new book, \"Faith and Power in Japanese Buddhist Art, 1600-2005,\" was published by the University of Hawaii Press in Sept. 2007. My son Lee (with husband David Dunfield), is now 24, and will soon finish his graduate study in architecture, following his father\'s footsteps (but not into politics we hope-David is happily now a former mayor of Lawrence).

After Graduation from KU I participated in the JET progmamme from August 2003 until August 2006. I was based in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture and tought english at levels K-12. After retuning to the U.S. I accepted a job at the Consulate General of Japan at Chicago. I work in the cultural outreach section of the Consulate known as the Japan Information Center. Here my main responsibilities consist of maintaining the Center's website and editing the monthly Consulate web letter.

After graduating from KU in 1972, I became a Peace Corps Volunteer in Korea from 1973-1975 as a teacher of English as a second language. I stayed on for an additional year and a half, leaving for good in 1977. Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to return. In 1980, I married a Swedish exchange student and have been living in Sweden ever since, on an island off the west coast. My background comes in handy, however, since I am still teaching ESL, now in a virtual classroom on the Internet, and most of my students come from China, Japan, and Korea. I would like to hear from the gang who took Korean from Kim Ho Soon back in 1970.

Brenda Jordon is Assistant Director of Educational Outreach, Japan Studies Coordinator, and Adjunct Assistant Professor, History of Art and Architecture at the University of Pittsburgh. She coordinates the K-16 Educational Outreach program for the Asian Studies center, including professional development workshops for teachers, early childhood learning programs, and educational programs and events. She also serves as the program manager for the Japanese internship pgram, as part of her duties as Japan studies coordinator. She is an avid gardener, in ther spar time, and enjoys spending time with her husband and adoptive Chinese daughter, Erika (age 5).
