Comprised of some of America's most outstanding brass artists, the Kansas Brass Quintet has for over thirty years been lauded for its brilliant and versatile programs. An Ensemble-in-Residence in the Department of Music and Dance at the University of Kansas, this coveted ensemble has performed on many national music conferences including multiple performances on the National MENC, the National Association of Wind and Percussion Instructors Convention, and the National Music Teachers Association Convention. Their new compact disc of both chamber an solo works titled Rare Breeds and Dog-Eared Classics was released fall 2000. The KBQ can also be heard on The Music of David Holsinger on Mark Records, and has twice presented programs on Public Radio titled Star Spangled Spectacular and Musicke Fit for a King or Queen, both produced by KANU, Lawrence, KS, for statewide release. A member of the Kansas Arts Commission Touring Roster, the KBQ has performed throughout the state of Kansas and the Midwest. The Kansas Brass Quintet is made of artists that are also dedicated music educators. The ensemble presents numerous clinics each year on a variety of musical topics in both schools and communities. Their impressive artistry and genuine rapport with audiences has made the Kansas Brass Quintet a hit with audiences year after year.

Kansas Brass Quintet Programs
DAZZLIN' BRASS - a fast paced program made up of favorites from several of the KBQ's popular programs. In addition to virtuoso contemporary works, the quintet also performs a great menagerie of marches, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic Period music along with some jazz!

OLD-TIME BAND IN THE PARK - this ever popular program recreates the turn of the 20th century band programs, much like the famed Sousa Band used to present when it was one of the most famous organizations in the world. Marches, ragtime, operatic favorites, and other "toe-tappers" round out this audience favorite!

SWINGIN' BRASS - the KBQ becomes your own personal big band, featuring great jazz standards from the early "hot jazz" of the roaring 20's to the great swing era music we all know and love.

HOLIDAY SEASON SPECTACULAR - this in demand program is offered from late November until Christmas, and features stunning arrangements of Holiday Season favorites along with seasonal music from around the world. A great way to get in the Sprit of the Season!

LEARNIN' BRASS - The KBQ offers informative and fast paced school programs designed for a specific age group from K-12. The group introduces the instruments and explains how they work, and performs fantastic music as well! These one hour programs are offered at a reduced fee, particularly when given in conjunction with evening performances.
